Mario Praz was born September 6, 1896. It is an Italian writer, an art historian and literary critic who specializes in the nineteenth century, with works that focus on cultures, French, German and Italian.

There was also a journalist and translator, he has assembled a collection of furniture and objets d’art from the neoclassical period, now available at his former home in Rome.
He died March 23, 1982.
