Well, What’s is black and white and red all over? News Flash. It is not the newspaper it is Bill Russell’s new book Red and Me: My Coach, and My Lifelong Friend.
Bill Russell has written a fine tribute to Red Auerbach. Bill speaks highly of his grandfather and mother in this book, and then of red his NBA coach and lifelong friend.
They both grew up in vastly different parts of the United States but what I great relationship when they meet while Bill was a player for the Celtics in the late 1950s. They truly had a great friendship that we should all aspire to have always communicating and supporting each other. You will see both of these men are great guys. There is inspiration and wisdom in this book both in sport and values.
This book is very short. You can read it in a setting. You should to teach how friendship should be.
It is mother’s day weekend. This is a great read to read at Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or any day. This books transcends race, creed and gender. Even if you are not basketball fans it will renew your faith in the human spirit. Friendship and hope triumphs. It is no wonder that Red lived 89 years. Well above the standard human lifespan because he knew are to treat people and love people and it certainly paid off in Bill Russell.
You too see how a beautiful relationship should be. Hard to find anywhere. You can use it as an example in your own life, work or friends, it is not about sports. It is a treasure.
