Australia: The Movie

An epic film by the director of Moulin Rouge, Baz Luhrmann.

I love movies and I too hate movies that are BIG, big in cost, production and actors’ salaries but hell, that’s show biz.

I saw the movie Australia and boy let me tell you what an EPIC! It is a long movie, 2hr. 45min., quite an epic but an interesting story how the aborigines were treated like 2nd class citizens, and the young star who is the impetus of the entire movie, is neither aborigine nor Australian, he is referred to as being half caste and the kids make fun of him and call him ‘creamie’ because of the complexion of his skin.

The movie will touch you in many ways, either the subject content or the place in which mr. luhrman takes you, I will not give it away, see it and you will be touched.  I got teary eyed in a few scenes and I am sure that you will as well.  This movie eventually will go down as one of the greatest movies ever of all time, you heard it here so you just wait and see.  The cinematography is to die for, the music is good and one Elton John sings the title track.

Ms. Kidman is her usual self, but personally I feel that she is better used as the camera catches her angles, rather than her acting; Hugh Jackman is quite the dashing man, and he will eventually be used in a film where his acting and his looks will shine, his star is waiting to burn brighter! It is great to see Bryan Brown as the Cattle Baron, surely you remember him from the movie FX years ago.

AUSTRALIA, go see it.  Now RUN!
