The Mediator Series: Who is the Mediator?
Susanna Simon, the Mediator, is the main character of the Mediator Series, which is made up of six books.
Hi, I’m Susan Simon! But everyone calls me Suze, except for my mom, only at dinner and when I did something wrong, or if the cops dropped me off at the house. Which happens often enough so as my mom normally calls me Susan. I live in Brooklyn. Anyway, my dad died when I was 6. So my mom and I were alone until she met Andy. They got married about a year after that and my mom and I moved to sunny Northern California. Carmel, California to be exact, I had only met them once before in my life, at the wedding, and I can tell you right now, I wasn’t to excited to see them again! I am talking about my 3 new step brothers, Doc, Dopey and Sleepy, well that’s what I call them. Doc’s real name is David, he is 12. Dopey’s real name is Brad; he is 16, just like me. Sleepy is the oldest, he is 18, almost and his real name is Jake.
Well, so far you probably think that my life seems pretty normal. Yet it is so far from normal, I can’t even begin to tell you how far it really is. But to make a long story short, I’m a mediator. I can see and talk to dead people, or ghosts. Plus, they don’t leave me alone until I help them resolve their unfinished business with the living! Whoopee! Go me, right! But this all started to make sense when the day that my dad died.
He came home from his run, looking the exact way he had when he left. Yet he was somehow, just barely, glowing. Also, to make matters worse, considering I was only 6, I was the only one who could see him! And yes, in case you were wondering, ghosts do, if they figure out how to use it, have their own, let’s say, force, or power. This is definitely not a good thing for me, because they can get pretty ticked off pretty fast. But you can’t see them, I have only met 2 other mediators in my life. You are pretty special, because I don’t just go out in public and start telling people that I’m a mediator. I have never told my mom, my dad found out because he died, and I have definitely not told my 3 step brothers. By the way, moral of the story, always try to be on someone’s good side. Mediators can, in fact, get a ghost to do something to you, since the ghost has certain powers that you as humans, don’t. You could know a mediator; in fact, there could be one in this room, right now, besides me.
