The following is a top ten list of the best science fiction authors from England and Britain.  England and Britain have definitely seen their share of talented science fiction writers over the years but there are several that really stand out in my mind as being legendary in the field.  The list below is strictly my own opinion but I did try to be selective in my choices and really take into consideration such things as volume of books written, popularity of books, awards won and how well known the author has become.  Now with that said, I did have to narrow the list down to only 10 authors so I know I will be leaving out a few that many feel should have made this list and for that I apologize but hopefully my list contains enough authors that are agreed upon in the end.  Below is the list that I came up with.  The authors are in no particular order and besides each author are several of their more popular works………..

1. Arthur C. Clarke  –   2001: A Space Odyssey, Rendezvous With Rama, Childhood’s End.
2. Richard Morgan   –   Altered Carbon, Market Forces, Broken Angels.
3. Olaf Stapledon   –   Odd John, Star Maker, Sirius.
4. Alastair Reynolds   –   Century Rain, Pushing Ice, Redemption Ark.
5. Douglas Adams   –   Hitchhiker’s Guide to Galaxy, Mostly Harmless, Restaurant at End of Galaxy.
6. HG Wells   –   Time Machine, War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man. 
7. Stephen Baxter   –   Evolution, The Time Ships, Raft.
8. Peter Hamilton   –   Judas Unchained, Pandora’s Star, Fallen Dragon.
9. Brian Aldiss   –  Hothouse, Dracula Unbound, Helliconia Spring.
10. Charles Sheffield   –   Divergence, Brother to Dragons, Tomorrow and Tomorrow.
