Bad Friends
A review of Claire Seeber’s thriller.
This psychological thriller isn’t the type of book I’d normally pick up but it has converted me and I’ve now begun reading another Claire Seeber title.
Maggie Warren is a TV production worker whose life begins to fall apart after she survives an horrific coach crash. Someone is stalking her but what is their motive? And what is the secret she is hiding from last summer?
This is a fast paced, well written novel with detailed descriptions of it’s two locations (London and Cornwall) that draw you in as if you were there yourself. You will find yourself frequently changing your mind as to the identity of the stalker among the many potential culprits, from Maggie’s creepy boss to her new ‘friend’ Fay, the office new boy Joseph to ex-boyfriend Alex and new boyfriend Seb, before it is revealed in the book’s dramatic ending.
The only thing I found disappointing was ‘the secret’ from the summer, as it was often alluded to but when revealed was nothing particularly significant.
